Ms. Patterson's 4th grade STEM students constructed circuits and discovered that two batteries in a series (positive to negative ends touching) produce much brighter bulbs than two batteries placed side by side in a parallel style. Students also learned that positioning batteries in a series drains the battery power faster than placing the batteries in a parallel mode. Students used a base grid to construct both momentary and maintained switches.
