Race for Education

race

On Friday, November 3, 2017, Barkley Elementary students will be participating in the 2nd Annual Race for Education Day. We invite families and friends to join us on this day as we raise funds to benefit the Barkley School community. In an effort to make our fundraising more student-centered, we are shifting away from “selling” and focusing our efforts on gathering community support for our students and their educational needs. This year, our fundraising goals will focus on ways in which can add improvements to our physical spaces. Last year, we raised over $14,000 to help fund multiple assemblies, programs, and of course, a major playground renovation in partnership with the Phoenixville Area School District.

Each participant will raise funds by identifying potential sponsors who will be asked to donate to the Barkley HSA. Mailers will be sent to those sponsors by HSA volunteers. A sample request is attached. All names and addresses will be kept confidential and will not be used for ANY other purpose besides this fundraiser.

On the day of the event, students will walk and/or jog around the perimeter of the school. We also invite families to cheer on the students as they raise funds for this exciting playground project. There are lots of fun incentives to bring in as many sponsors as possible as well as prizes and awards for participating in the event. Specific instructions are contained in this packet. Please join us in this very special event and in our continued support of Barkley Elementary School.

Sincerely,

Dr. Keya Champagne-Lee, Principal
